Post Out of interest. What does your 8 Sound like under normal acceleration — Audi A8 Owners Forum

Post Out of interest: What does your 8' Sound like under normal acceleration? And would you say mine sounds Normal for a 4.2 TDI V8? When I had the ECU upgraded they asked me if I wanted the exhaust note made more petrol-like so of course I said yes, I just don't know how that's possible through a laptop

Alright, maybe I should introduce my car here as well.:D I just bought a 2002 Audi S8 facelift in Avus silver a few days ago. While it needs a bit of work done to it, I think it's in decent condition, especially for the price I paid for it. I couldn't do much diagnostics yet since the battery is dead, but from what the previous owner told me the car is limiting it's power considerably atm. It shifts fine from park to drive or reverse and back again so I'm not sure yet if it could be gearbox related, the previous owner suspects it could be torque converter related. I'll be able to tell more by the next weekend. I'm hoping people in this group will be able to help me with this and a few other questions, too. :)

The time has come to sell 'Barry' my 2005 3.0tdi SE A8.

It's just been serviced and had a full 12 months MOT, 142k on the clock. It's been lowered on links but original links are in the boot, running 20" Porsche Rinspeed wheels on adaptor/spacers. I have also up graded the front brakes to 385mm S8 spec. The original calipers will be supplied with the car too. It's in good shape for nearly 12 years old, the wheels are kerbed and would probably benefit from a refurb. The tyres have plenty of tread left 6mm+ all-round. The only things that don't work are the drivers door locking button on the outside handle and the center arm rest clips have gone somewhere?? It's been a great car for the 4 and a half years I've owned it. I'm starting my own business so I need to liquidate some assets so he has to go. Looking for offers around £5000 please PM me for any further info.

I reluctantly put my D3 through a machine car wash for he first time yesterday to clear motorway grime (it's having a 2 stage machine polish soon). When I turned out of the first junction after a 10 minute drive, I heard a rush of water before my feet got soaked!

The car engine and ignition were off during the car wash and it wasn't particularly powerful.

This morning both my front mats were soaked, it was clear the water had came from the air vents. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Needless to say I won't be using a car wash again!

VCDS owners gather round — Audi A8 Owners Forum

        VCDS owners gather round.

Plenty of you have came here asking about a flat battery, I myself have experienced it in last week so I ask that you have a look at the following link and download and try the feature that they are developing so we may have a better tool for diagnosing battery drains.

You will need to download a beta release and copy the exe file into your VCDS folder.

Then run the program, capture the battery history and email to Ross tech.

The more of use that do it the quicker it can be sorted out to run properly for our cars.

guys any opinions would be much appreciated. been to various garages and they can't diagnose. £300 in the hole and still same issue. all exhaust manifolds flrxpipes etc have been replaced/ruled out. only happens under boost. can't replicate when stand still. had versions of injector o rings, exhaust manifold gaskets, flex pipes and gaskets, engine mounts. no error codes on vcds. seen about 4 different specialists like turbo specialist who thinks its engine mounts, audi specialist who thinks its my gearbox, checked my intercoolers too. loved my car before this shit but now its really depressing me here!

Car back and air suspension fixed at last!

I did ask them to make sure the battery was coded to the car, but they mentioned my issue is common to alot of audi owners, i bought a super duper bosch battery, but it cant be coded, only varta and li ion or something can be coded with their kit. They are an audi specialist so I imagine they have good computer magic wizardry, my vcds couldn't alter the serial number on it either So might be alot of other guys issue on here?

My ESP light comes on occasionally also (steering angle sensor), I was wondering if it could be related.

The steering fluid is darker than it should be, but, a local mechanic told me that changing the fluid would have little effect as its electronic steering

I've owned a '97 D2 for years and its the best car I've ever driven, but it's well worn. I am hoping I just scored with this 2005 A8L W12, got it for $4,850 with a blown head gasket, but it runs and drives. I get a discount at work so the head gasket will be less than $5k hopefully. Only 79k miles, can't wait to drive it on the road. D3's have always been my dream car, but they sure are expensive to repair. Previous owner installed new air struts a month prior to the head gasket failure so hopefully it's good for a bit. It seemed to drive well in the parking lot at least

I know the guy who has worked on this, who doesn't have any mechannical experience at all. Who has stitched over friends and family to get what he wants at their expense. It wouldn't surprise me at all if there are a whole heap of gremlins lurking in the electrical systems behind the Q7 3G MMI, and you'll find it difficult/expensive for anyone to touch them in the UK. This system was very problematic when being installed, until a group of Polish guys came over and sorted it out.

Oh, and the rear bumper was repainted because of an accident. Sorry to be a bit of a drama queen, but I don't want anyone to fall foul of this car, as tempting as it may be

I was hoping to do a nice big post about an offer of xenon bulbs and interior light packs but we're still sorting out a few things for these and other A8 mods.

Not wanting to leave you guys with nothing we have a new product with a special introductory deal for January.

Colour changing footwell LED system which can be controlled via an App on you IOS or Android device using Bluetooth.

I was always a fan of just having the simple White LED's for the footwells but why not try get a kit where if you want white then leave it in white, if your mood changes then change the colour.

We tested this kit back in SEPT, great kit but needed some improvements, we got onto the factory and we changed them from remote controlled IR to Bluetooth operated, I also pushed for them to be fitted into a VAG housing lamp as most VAGS from 2003 have the cut out for the lamps and also the features in the CE modules to run footwells.

These will fit cars that have the light pack and have footwell lights, also go into cars that don't have the light pack but can have them retrofitted, its mainly for cars after 2003 but if your unsure then just ask.

Fitting: If you have the light pack already fitted I will mod the connector to get your power feed from where you unplug your existing lamp, if no light pack is fitted then you will need or have access to VCDS to get these working.

The RRP is £124.99 posted within the UK.

I have 30 Kits coming in Jan which will be sold on a 1st come 1st served basis and will be £99 per kit posted.

If the demand exceeds this I will keep the price for £99 for the whole of Jan but if you order after the 1st 30 sets are sold then there will be a 6 week wait.

Attached should be a video of the colours which also shows the App in use.

Here is the link if you want to place an order, estimated delivery is by the 25th Jan.

Not driven my car for 3 weeks due to a recent foot operation — Audi A8 Owners Forum

Not driven my car for 3 weeks due to a recent foot operation.

The car is flat on the floor and no warning LEDs flashing.

So the big question, will the car unlock, unlock and start or will I be one of those people asking for help on how to get in to my car to jump start it?

                                        Place your bets.

P.S. not starting it till next week. So might be closer to 4 before I start it.

After a recent post by Derek it reminded me how shit my lights are — Audi A8 Owners Forum

After a recent post by Derek it reminded me how shit my lights are.

Possibly due to age as xenons lose that brightness over time.

Because of this I started talking to lighting friend of mine and asked if he's willing to do an offer on A8 D3 xenon bulbs.

                                          He said yes.

I'm waiting for prices and such but I'm wondering how many of us out there would be interested in a OEM brand (Philips or Osram) and OEM colour bulbs?

These will be genuine, not genuine state and then a knock off but genuinely Philips or Osram.

He can D2 and other cars if you want.

Has anyone had issues with their Emission Control Systems warning light before — Audi A8 Owners Forum

Has anyone had issues with their Emission Control Systems warning light before. Had the mechanics look at it. They replaced a relay for the secondary air intake and less than a week later the light came back on. I'll have to scan it for errors myself when I get home but was wondering if anyone had this happen to them. It's a 4.2 petrol D3. Cheers guys.

What to do — Audi A8 Owners Forum

                                              What to do ... (?)

I replaced my battery 12 months ago - all good. (120A)

Generator charges with 13,7 V in idle.

                                              Problem:

Setting aux.heating (60 minutes) in the morning (2-5 degrees outside) - Car almost can't start due to low power. If it starts - it makes the transmission error (all is red) - i stop the engine, and start it right away - all good (but still LOW on power).

If i don't set the aux. heating - the battery is fine, and it starts right away. And you can hear that it has way more power without the aux. heating on.

I use it mostly twice a day - morning (2-5 degrees) and evening (2-5 degrees) - i drive at least 30 km, before it's set again.

Why have the option for 60 minutes if the car/battery cannot handle it?

                                              D2, 3,3 TDI V8 - 2002.

                                              ?

Have just broken down in my D3 car conked out (stalled) going around a corner and cut out, drove a little further and did it again. Got to a layby and happened again. Any ideas??? No warning lights or error messages at all? I'm on quarter of a tank of diesel. Battery/alternator? (AA en route
