Oh no — Audi 80 Cab Coupe Enthusiasts

Oh no

Drove 40 mins today in my beloved cabriolet and then about 2 hours later wouldn't start

The car starts when you turn the key and you can hear the fuel pump prime up and it starts then after about 3 seconds it dies

What's going on

Stuart here — Audi 80 Cab Coupe Enthusiasts

Stuart here.

We posted a similar video earlier last year, but I thought I would reach out again.

I desperately want to get the roof sorted before the warm weather kicks in, but don't know where to start.

You'll see there's something wrong with the mechanism because the handle doesn't fall back into its correct location. If you turn your volume up, hopefully you can hear the clicking when the handle is being engaged.

I've not got the know how to sort this, but obviously don't want to be ripped off by any old garage.

Any ideas of garages in the south area, preferably Reading/Basingstoke who could resolve this. Or is there anyone here who would be willing to have a go?

Despite loving the car and wanting to keep it going, the amount of money spent to keep it on the road lately is starting to make me think about other options.

Thanks in advance.

Stuart

Hey people looking for a little advice. Done a fair amount of work to the coupe over the last couple of months and I seem to have created more. It's a 91 2.3 20v quattro. I've got a strange brake pedal, it feels like abs cutting in but does it sitting still if you press the pedal. On inspection I appear to have a hydraulic servo which I've never came across before. I have had this issue since removing calipers and changing brake fluid and unplugging abs pump makes no difference either. Any ideas what I'm feeling?

After fitting low profile tyres on to my 20v Quattro I obviously have a rather large amount of arch gap, I assumed since I could get updated shocks rather easily 40mm lowing springs wouldn't be hard to come by but unfortunately I can't find any. Will s2 springs fit a b3 20v Quattro, does anybody know where to get performance springs for that car or am I best opting for the fatter tyres again?

          Help folks!

I got a replacement NG engine for my 5 pot cab but the timing belt set up is different, the tension is adjusted via the water pump rather than a separate tensioner and the timing belt cover is metal, not plastic. I'm hoping I don't have to use it but need a plan B if is mine is kaput or beyond economical repair.

What I need to know is what the engine came off so I can order the correct timing belt and water pump coz seller wasn't able to help.

Does anyone know what it came off or alternatively is there a way I can find out using the engine number?

Stu used the car today to visit his Tewkesbury office 90 miles away. Despite the heavy fog for 95% of the route, all was good.

On the return journey, the brake warning light continued to flash. He stopped just down the road from the office to check the problem, but the light went out. He then joined the M5 and the light started flickering/flashed again, so he stopped just off the A417 to check the brake fluid level.

The light went out and remained off for the rest of the journey.

            Any thoughts...

Hi can anyone point me in the right direction. Have a 2.0E 1993. It's started idle rough. I have change the idle control valve and rubber breather that goes on to the rocker cover because it was split. Cleaned the hoses from breather and the one that goes into the block. Bought cleaner for the air flow meter to clean but still idling rough. It drives spot on just idling the problem.

Is there a external battery backup for the dash clock? I've disconnected my battery twice in the last couple of days and when it's been reconnected the clock displays the correct time with no need to reset it.... but on the S2 when reconnecting the battery, I have to reset the clock. Hi guys. Friday I've noticed I'm loosing brake fluid. So I'm booked to a garage on thursday, but until then, the fluid leaks not on the actual brakes, but near the rear wheel,in a small cubic part in wich 2 pipes enter. That part is only on that wheel, the other one doesen't have one. So,what can that part be?It's leaking constantly,so I just have to topup with brake fluid until thursday.

The problem is I have foreign plates on my car,si It will be difficult to the mechanics to find that part,so if you can help me with an advice it will be great.

Cant thank Mark D Stokes and the other forum users enough thanks on guiding me to getting the 2.8 V6 i went to view yesterday. Now sat on drive with the other runaround, always wanted a Lancia and Audi at the same time, so thank you once again, had a good drive back from Birmingham, about 1.5 hrs, cruised home and everything works! Got a great list of things to do, even managed to get the roof down!

Hear is my Audi 2.8E from 1994 and it has gone only 17.000 miles!

Now I dident start up my car fore foure years at all and its staying in the garage. So what can happen? I think that I need a lot of money to give it a big service because this car is realy nice but I dont have any money to give it the love it need, so I hope that for the summer I can do something.

I could need a good advice how and where to start to give it life again.

                        STICKING REVS WHEN HOT

When my 2.3 20V is fully up to temperature if I then stop it and re-start it (for example in a fuel station) the revs start to stick. It sits about 200 rpm higher on tick over and then when I change gear the revs dont drop (or they would if you took about five minutes to change gear!!). Any ideas? I'm thinking an air sensor? From cold its fine and from hot its fine as long as I dont have to restart the engine at any point.

                          Ok,

Might be a silly question but could people who put their cabs away for winter give some advice as to what they do?

I.e. Do you ever turn them over, connect a trickle charge to the battery, jacked up with wheels off etc etc.

I only as as I'm thinking of putting mine in my parents garage.

As always, any advice would be great.

                          Cheers

Morning everyone and happy new year!

So I've decided to try and organise a little trip out with the cabbies/coupes to North Spain in 2017.

I'm good with locations etc. Just need to think of a date that suits the majority (Some of us might need to save up lol) and a duration. I'm thinking to make the most of it we need about 2 weeks.

So if you're interested put your name on the list with a suggestion of dates .......

Guys, you seriously don't want to know how much money, research, work, brainstorming and effort went into this so far.

'96 B5 A4 1.8T big BC instrument cluster retrofit in my '97 TDI (AHU) with a one-off custom made pin layout converter wiring loom and fuel tank signal converter electronics to make sure it all can be rolled back to stock.

Still not perfect but only small bits need to be sorted out, and actually the cluster housing itself needs to be fitted in it's bay since it's slightly wider than the B4 unit.

Does anybody no wat it's worth as is as unsure what these are worth. Thanks in advance

So im At the traffic lights and some young snap chat youth pulls upbeside me in his GTD Golf. (It was at that moment the predictable head 2 head show down begun) lol. Bare in mind he is much lighter than me due to the cab is heavier than a P&O cruise line and i had the hardtop on. So it went off, we both gave it the beans

Audi 80 Cab car audio upgrade. Foto for attention only.

Hi I am planning to upgrade my factory setting.Currently I have unamplified front speakers in the dashboard and amplified rear with nokia subwoofer in ski compartment.

Plan is to install component 6.5 inch Alpine speakers on the front door panels with adaptors and tweeters in the dashboard where original speakers were fitted. Amplifier to be installed in the boot to power them up.

Second stage is to upgrade subwoofer but I would like to keep it in the same place where factory one was fitted. Amplifier in the boot to power it up.

Third stage to replace rear speakers and power them up from the amp in the boot.

Does anyone have experience in these type of jobs. Any recomendarions? What size of speakers on the back?Compoment on co-axial?What size of sub will fit ski compartment?

I would like to keep original look as far as possible.

Any recommendations will be much appreciated.

High flow cats. Anyone got one on a v6 with a standard exhaust on the rest?

So when I bought my new motor it came with high-flow cats which are actually the original cats opened up and the guts replaced with a lower density honeycomb. No idea what difference in performance it made to the car as never drove it before! I'd like to know the difference that this single piece of work would make to the v6.
